OPENING LITANY
Come, Holy Spirit,
Fill us.
Come, Holy Breath,
Live in us.
Come, Holy Wind,
Move through us.
Like a rushing wind, your Spirit moved upon the first disciples on the day of Pentecost,
and like a purifying fire, your Spirit seared their hearts and minds with the message of salvation,
O Holy God, send your Spirit upon your church in this time and place,
stir up our courage, and rouse us for prophetic witness, that we may join with them to proclaim to the world your mighty deeds of power in Jesus Christ. Amen.
HYMN OF ADORATION We Enter Your Church
1 We enter your church, Lord, through welcoming doors.
We enter in, too, where you claim us as yours.
It’s here at the font that you offer a sign:
You tell us, “My children, you’re baptized! You’re mine!”
2 O God, you have called us, inviting us in;
You’ve made us your household and freed us from sin.
From youngest to oldest, we find in this place
Your waters of welcome, your family, your grace.
3 We’ve heard here your welcome and also your call;
Your Spirit inspires us to share Christ with all.
The life we receive here is life we can share;
We’ll carry your message of love everywhere.

Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Prayer of Dedication
Almighty God, we have opened our hands to you, and our hands have been filled with good things by your grace. Receive the gifts we bring in gratitude for your care for us,
and help us to bless you with dedication of our lives;

TIME WITH YOUNG DISCIPLES “Happy Birthday, Church!”
SCRIPTURE READING Acts 2 with a dramatic reading by three voices
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. (Continues…)

SONG OF COMMITMENT We Are the Church (United Methodist Hymn #558)
Refrain: I am the church! You are the church! We are the church together!
All who follow Jesus, all around the world! Yes, we’re the church together!
1. The church is not a building; the church is not a steeple;
the church is not a resting place; the church is a people. (Refrain)
2. We’re many kinds of people, with many kinds of faces,
all colors and all ages, too, from all times and places. (Refrain)
3. Sometimes the church is marching; sometimes it’s bravely burning,
sometimes it’s riding, sometimes hiding; always it’s learning. (Refrain)
4. And when the people gather, there’s singing and there’s praying;
there’s laughing and there’s crying sometimes, all of it saying: (Refrain)
5. At Pentecost some people received the Holy Spirit
and told the Good News through the world to all who would hear it. (Refrain)
