Sunday, July 18th, 8&10AM. Online/In-Person

This summer series will walk us through Matthew 5-7 section by section.
Though some teachings of Jesus here are found hard to live, let us come and be open to the Spirit of God
who leads us to amazing discoveries that will unfold as we travel the inner roads of our soul.

Your sanctuary is open for your participation in corporate worship at 8 & 10AM in a safe environment.
Between the two service, sprays a disinfectant registered on the EPA List N for use against COVID-19 virus.

Both services continue to be livestreamed
and are available on FM 103.5 channel at the locations within a half mile away from the church.

Order of Worship
July 18, 2021

Give thanks to the Lord who is good. God’s love is everlasting.
Come, let us praise God joyfully. Let us come to God with thanksgiving.
To each prayer, all respond by saying “We thank you, God.”
Then, to the words of praise for the church and for the Holy Spirit, all say “We praise you, God.”
Above all, O God, for your Son Jesus Christ, who lived and died and lives again for our salvation;
for our hope in him; and for the joy of serving him;
All: We thank and praise you, Eternal God, for your everlasting love. Amen.

SCRIPTURE READING    Matthew 5:31-32
[Jesus continued to say] “It was also said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’ But I say to you that anyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of unchastity, causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

Deuteronomy 24:1    Suppose a man enters into marriage with a woman, but she does not please him because he finds something objectionable about her, and so he writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house; she then leaves his house.

1 Corinthians 7:12-13, 15    If any believer has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he should not divorce her. And if any woman has a husband who is an unbeliever, and he consents to live with her, she should not divorce him. … But if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so; in such a case the brother or sister is not bound. It is to peace that God has called you.

MESSAGE Sermon on the Mount (7)

SONG OF FAITH    The Gift of Love (United Methodist Hymn #408)
1 Though I may speak with bravest fire, and have the gift to all inspire,
and have not love, my words are vain, as sounding brass, and hopeless gain.

2 Though I may give all I possess, and striving so my love profess,
but now be given by love within, the profit soon turns strangely thin.

3 Come, Spirit, come, our heart control, our spirits long to be made whole.
Let inward love guide every deed; by this we worship, and are freed.

Pastor: We now go out into the world.
All: We go into the world in faith! Pastor: Trusting God to lead you, trusting people to receive you.
All: Go into the world with hope! Pastor: With God’s presence before you and human dreams to carry you.
All: Go into the world with love! Pastor: Serving with those in whom Christ lives, keeping the promises you made before Christ, and working for the prayers you say in Christ’s name. Go in Faith, Hope, and Love!
All: These three abide, and the greatest of these is love.
