Trinity Sunday, May 30. 8 & 10AM. Online/In-Person

Feel active vigor in these three words: Ascension, Pentecost, and Trinity.
This Sunday is Trinity Sunday. It comes at the end of the first half of Christian year and the beginning of the second half.
That is to say, Trinity Sunday functions as a “gathering up” of all the previous significant events of the Christian year: from Christmas, through Easter, to Pentecost. As it opens the second half, it invites us to grow and live our faith.

Your sanctuary is open for your participation in corporate worship at 8 & 10AM in a safe environment.
Between the two service, sprays a disinfectant registered on the EPA List N for use against COVID-19 virus.

Both services continue to be livestreamed https://www.facebook.com/LodiUMC
and are available on FM 103.5 channel at the locations within a half mile away from the church.

OPENING LITANY
God our Creator, we call You Father, Mother, Author of Life: Draw us closer to You, O God.

Christ our Savior, we call You the Son, the Messiah, the One who Saves: Draw us closer to You, O God.

Holy Spirit, we call You the Advocate, the Inspirer, Breath and Wind of God: Draw us closer to You, O God.

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty; heaven and earth are full of Your glory: Draw us closer to You, O God.

Draw us in, Spirit, Christ and Creator,
that we might journey with You more fully and deeply, in this life and beyond. Amen.

SONGS OF ADORATION       Holy, Holy, Holy              God of Wonders
1 Holy, holy, holy! Lord God almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty! God in three persons, blessed trinity!

3 Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee, though the eye of sinfulness thy glory may not see,
only thou art holy; there is none beside thee, perfect in pow’r, in love, and purity.

1 Lord of all creation, Lord of water, earth and sky.
The heavens are your Tabernacle. Glory to the Lord on high

(Chorus) And God of wonders beyond our galaxy. You are holy, holy
The universe declares Your majesty. You are holy, holy. Lord of heaven and earth. Lord of heaven and earth

2 So early in the morning, I will celebrate the light.
As I stumble in the darkness, I will call your name by night. (Repeat Chorus)

Hallelujah! To the Lord of heaven and earth. Hallelujah! To the Lord of heaven and earth
Hallelujah! To the Lord of heaven and earth. The God of wonders beyond our galaxy. You are holy, holy
Precious Lord, reveal Your heart to me. Father, holy, holy.
The universe declares Your majesty. You are holy, holy, holy, holy.
Hallelujah! To the Lord of heaven and earth. x4

Prayer of Dedication      in the words of Companion Litany to Our Social Creed (The Book of Discipline 2016)
Leader: Paul writes that “all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.”
People: We are children of God and celebrate peace with justice.
Leader: God did not give you a spirit of fear but of adoption.
People: We are children of God and celebrate liberation.
Leader: We are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.
People: We are children of God and celebrate our global family in worship and through sharing our gifts.
Leader: God in the Spirit revealed in Jesus Christ, calls us by grace
People: to be renewed in the image of our Creator, that we may be one in divine love for the world.
Leader: Today is the day God cares for the integrity of creation, wills the healing and wholeness of all life,
weeps at the plunder of earth’s goodness. People: And so shall we.
Leader: Today is the day God embraces all hues of humanity, delights in diversity and difference,
favors solidarity transforming strangers into friends. People: And so shall we.
Leader: Today is the day God cries with the masses of starving people, despises growing disparity
between rich and poor, demands justice for workers in the marketplace. People: And so shall we.
Leader: Today is the day God deplores violence in our homes and streets, rebukes the world’s warring madness,
humbles the powerful and lifts up the lowly. People: And so shall we.
Leader: Today is the day God calls for nations and peoples to live in peace, celebrate where justice and
mercy embrace, exults when the wolf grazes with the lamb (Isaiah 65:25). People: And so shall we.
Leader: Today is the day God brings good news to the poor, proclaims release to the captives,
gives sight to the blinds, and sets the oppressed free (Luke 4:18). People: And so shall we.

SCRIPTURE READING John 16:13-15 Matthew 28:19-20
[Jesus said,] “When the Spirit of truth comes, the Spirit will guide you in all truth. The Spirit won’t speak on her own, but will say whatever the Spirit hears and will proclaim to you what is to come. The Spirit will glorify me, because she will take what is mine and proclaim it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine. That’s why I said that the Spirit takes what is mine and will proclaim it to you.” (To use the pronoun, she/her for the Holy Spirit is Pastor Peace’s. Most Bible translations use he/his.)

“Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

MESSAGE     Three Big Words (3): Trinity

SONG OF COMMITMENT     Shine, Jesus, Shine (The Faith We Sing #2173)
Refrain Shine, Jesus, shine. Fill this land with the Father’s glory,
blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire; flow, river, flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy.
send forth Your Word, Lord And let there be light.

1 Lord the light of Your love is shining in the midst of the darkness, shining, Jesus, Light of the world,
shine upon us, set us free by the truth You now bring us. Shine on me. Shine on me. (Refrain)

3 As we gaze on your kingly brightness, so our faces display your likeness; ever changing
from glory to glory, mirrored here may our lives tell your story. Shine on me. Shine on me. (Refrain)
