Sunday Worship. May 2. Easter 5. In-Person & Online

Easter is not over. Easter is not a single day. We have begun an extended celebration of Christ’s Resurrection.
In the season of Easter, we rejoice and experience what it means when we say Christ is risen.
This Sunday with the worship series: God and Gardens,
we reflect on our own garden – our life. What has grown and now continues to grow in “your garden”?

Your sanctuary is open for your participation in corporate worship at 8 & 10AM in a safe environment.
Between the two service, sprays a disinfectant registered on the EPA List N for use against COVID-19 virus.

Both services continue to be livestreamed
and are available on FM 103.5 channel at the locations within a half mile away from the church.

Please observe a day of worship and reflection on Sunday wherever you are.

Order of Worship
May 2, 2021

God is our salvation, guiding us out of the darkness of the world.
Redeeming God,
as trees stretch towards the sun, we seek your light for direction and meaning.
Sustaining God,
as branches bear fruit, your word feeds our souls.
Friends, come now, put down the burdens of your days.
God is our salvation. We rest in the garden of God’s love.

HYMN OF ADORATION    O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing (United Methodist Hymn # 57)
1 O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer’s praise,
the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of his grace!

2 My gracious Master and my God, assist me to proclaim,
to spread through all the earth abroad the honors of thy name.

3 Jesus! the name that charms our fears, that bids our sorrows cease;
’tis music in the sinner’s ears, ’tis life, and health, and peace.

7 In Christ, your head, you then shall know, shall feel your sins forgiven;
anticipate your heaven below, and own that love is heaven.

SHARING JOYS AND CONCERNS Please share your prayer requests and joys. Type them in the comment section.

Blessed are you, God of spring – bright season of life awakening. You gladden our hearts with opening buds and returning leaves as you put on your robes of splendor.
Blessed are you, God of spring. You open the closed buds of our despair as you journey with us to the flowing places.
Blessed are you, God of spring. You invite us to sing songs to the frozen regions within and to bless the lessons of winter as we become your partner in a new dance.
Blessed are you, God of spring – season of resurrection, sacrament of promise. You rise us up out of the darkness to a wake of new life.
Blessed are you, God of spring, season of hope and renewal. Wordless poem about all within us that can never die. Each year you amaze us with the miracle of returning life.

TIME OF DEDICATION  This is our commitment to following Jesus. Thank you for living your faith by sharing your gifts with God’s world through your church.
Doxology (United Methodist Hymn #94)
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise God, all creatures here below:
Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise God, the source of all our gifts! Praise Jesus Christ, whose power uplifts!
Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Prayer of Dedication
We love you, Lord, for you hear us and respond in graciousness and compassion and righteousness. You deliver our souls from death, our feet from stumbling, and our eyes from tears. Receive our tithes and offerings, we pray. Multiply them and bless the ministry of our church so that your work and word can go forth. Amen.

SPECIAL MUSIC    Springtime      Beanie Ludlum, solo

Jesus said therefore, “What is the kingdom of God like? And to what should I compare it? It is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in the garden; it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.”

MESSAGE    God and Gardens (4) Our Garden and God’s Kingdom

Song of Prayer before Receiving The Bread and Cup O Blessed Spring (The Faith We Sing #2076)
1 O Blessed springs, where Word and sign embrace us into Christ the Vine:
here Christ enjoins each one to be a branch of this life-giving Tree.

5 Christ, holy Vine, Christ, living Tree, be praised for this blest mystery:
that Word and water thus revive and join us to your Tree of Life.
Prayer after Communion
Most bountiful God, we give you thanks for the world you have created, for the gift of life,
and for giving yourself to us in Jesus Christ, whose holy life, suffering and death, and glorious resurrection
have delivered us from slavery to sin and death.
We thank you that in the power of your Holy Spirit
you have fed us in this Sacrament, united us with Christ, and given us a foretaste of your heavenly banquet.
We are your children, and yours is the glory, now and for ever; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

SONG OF COMMITMENT    Sent Forth by God’s Blessing (United Methodist Hymn #664)
1 Sent forth by God’s blessing, our true faith confessing,
the people of God from this dwelling take leave.
The service is ended, O now be extended
the fruits of our worship in all who believe.
The seed of the teaching, receptive souls reaching,
shall blossom in action for God and for all.
God’s grace did invite us, and love shall unite us
to work for God’s kingdom and answer the call.

2 With praise and thanksgiving to God ever living,
the tasks of our everyday life we will face.
Our faith ever sharing, in love ever caring,
embracing God’s children of each tribe and race.
With your grace you feed us, with your light now lead us;
unite us as one in this life that we share.
Then may all the living with praise and thanksgiving
give honor to Christ and that name which we bear.
