Sunday, Sept 20. Worship Service. Parking lot, Sanctuary & Online_FINISHED

There is a prayer that we don’t choose, but it chooses us, so it is a gift. It is the Lord’s Prayer.
With this series on the prayer that Jesus has taught us to pray,
let’s anchor our lives in God and bend our lives toward God in these troubled times.

Our 8AM service will be in the parking lot, and the 10AM service in the sanctuary.
Our services will continue to be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/LodiUMC.

Please observe Sunday as the day of worship wherever you are.

CALL TO WORSHIP
Lord of all the earth, Creator of the universe,
Holy Triune God, from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.
You are merciful and full of loving-kindness and great compassion;
We rejoice, O Lord, for your grace has overflowed for us.
You have washed us from our wickedness and cleansed us from our sin;
We rejoice, O Lord, for your grace has overflowed for us.
Who is like our God, the One who takes away the iniquity of his people, the One who gives them clean hearts and right spirits?
We rejoice, O Lord, for your grace has overflowed for us.
Receive our worship. We rejoice and are glad in your presence. Amen.

SONG OF PRAISE

Come and go with me to my Father’s house

Come and go with me to my Father’s house, to my Father’s house. repeat
There’ll be no crying there. There’ll be do dying there.
Come and go with me to my Father’s house, to my Father’s house.

Better is One Day

Verse) How lovely is your dwelling place, Oh, Lord Almighty.
For my soul doth long and even faints for You
For here my heart is satisfied within Your presence.
I sing beneath the shadow of Your wings

Chorus) Better is one day in Your courts. Better is one day in Your house
Better is one day in Your courts. Than thousands elsewhere. Go to Verse and Chorus

Bridge) My heart and flesh cry out for You, the living God.
Your Spirit’s water to my soul. I’ve tasted and I’ve seen.
Come once again to me. I will draw near to You. I will draw near to You. Sing Chorus

Seek Ye First
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
And all these things shall be added unto you. Allelu Alleluia.
Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word.
That proceeds from the mouth of God. Allelu Alleluia.
Ask, and it shall be given unto you. Seek and ye shall find.
Knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Allelu Alleluia.

DEDICATION OF OUR LIVES    Thank you for sharing your gifts with God’s world through your church.
O God, most merciful and gracious, of whose bounty we have all received. Grant us to know the joy of those who give generously in thanks for your blessings. Let your blessing be upon our offerings. May these gifts promote peace and good will among people and fulfill your will on earth. Amen.

SCRIPTURE READING
Matthew 6:7-13 (New Revised Standard Version) [Jesus said,] “When you are praying, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. “Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one.

Mark 1:14-15 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news.”

Luke 13:20-21 And again he said, “To what should I compare the kingdom of God? It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with[a] three measures of flour until all of it was leavened.”

CHILDREN’S TIME    It is here… yes, really! Well… it’s not fully yet.

MESSAGE Your Kingdom Come

A paraphrase of the Lord’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, heavenly Mother,
hallowed be your name, followed be your royal way.
Rule us by your Word and Spirit in such a way that more and more we submit to you.
Destroy every force which revolts against you. Keep your followers strong.
Help us to carry out the work we are called to, in trusting and obey your will. Your will alone is good.
Your will be done in us, among us, and on earth.
Give us this day the bread we need,
Give it to those who have none.
Let forgiveness flow like a river between us, from each one to each one.
Lead us to holy innocence beyond the evil of our days.
Come swiftly Mother, Father, come.
For yours is the power and the glory and mercy: Forever your name is All in One.
based on Parker J. Palmer’s writing of the Lord’s Prayer.

SONG OF SENDING FORTH   Take My Life and Let It Be Consecrated (United Methodist Hymnal #399)
Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days; let them flow in endless praise.
Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for thee.
Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use every power as thou shalt choose.
Take my will and make it thine; it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is thine own; it shall be thy royal throne.

DISMISSAL WITH BLESSING Stay well and see you next Sunday in the church or online.
