Sunday, Sept 13. Worship Service. Parking lot, Sanctuary & Online_FINISHED

There is a prayer that we don’t choose, but it chooses us, so it is a gift. It is the Lord’s Prayer.
With this series on the prayer that Jesus has taught us to pray,
let’s anchor our lives in God and bend our lives toward God in these troubled times.

Our 8AM service will be in the parking lot, and the 10AM service in the sanctuary.
Our services will continue to be livestreamed at

Please observe Sunday as the day of worship wherever you are.

Order of Worship
September 13, 2020

Come into God’s presence and shout with the heavens,
our God is very great!
Clothed with honor and wrapped in glorious light,
our God is very great!
Serving tirelessly and caring endlessly,
our God is very great!
Calling us to humility and compassion,
our God is very great!
Come into God’s presence, to listen and hear God speak.

SONG OF PRAISE   Now Thank We All Our God (United Methodist Hymnal #102)

1. Now thank we all our God, with heart and hands and voices,
who wondrous things has done, in whom this world rejoices;
who from our mothers’ arms has blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love, and still is ours today.

2. O may this bounteous God through all our life be near us,
with ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us;
and keep us still in grace, and guide us when perplexed;
and free us from all ills, in this world and the next.

3. All praise and thanks to God the Father now be given;
the Son, and him who reigns with them in highest heaven;
the one eternal God, whom earth and heaven adore;
for thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore.

DEDICATION OF OUR LIVES   Thank you for sharing your gifts with God’s world through your church.
O God who is over all, through all and in all, we come to you in thanksgiving, knowing that all we are and all we have is a gift from you. You bless our lives with many gifts. We now offer you ourselves in these offerings. Take us and use us to share your love with the world and glorify you in our offerings. We pray with grateful hearts, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

CHILDREN’S TIME    The Prayer Pops Up from The Bible

Romans 8:12-17 So then, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation, but it isn’t an obligation to ourselves to live our lives on the basis of selfishness. If you live on the basis of selfishness, you are going to die. But if by the Spirit you put to death the actions of the body, you will live. All who are led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons and daughters. You didn’t receive a spirit of slavery to lead you back again into fear, but you received a Spirit that shows you are adopted as his children. With this Spirit, we cry, “Abba, Father.” The same Spirit agrees with our spirit, that we are God’s children. But if we are children, we are also heirs. We are God’s heirs and fellow heirs with Christ, if we really suffer with him so that we can also be glorified with him.

Luke 11:1-4 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” He said to them, “When you pray, say: ‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.’”

MESSAGE    Father… in heaven

A paraphrase of the Lord’s Prayer
Eternal Spirit, Life-Giver, Pain-bearer, Love-maker,
Source of all that is and that shall be,
Father and Mother of us all, Loving God, in whom is heaven:

the Hallowing of your Name echo through the universe.
All created beings will carry out your Heavenly Will.
The Way of your Justice be followed by the people of the world.
Your commonwealth of Peace and Freedom sustain our hope and come on earth.
With the bread we need for today, feed us.
In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive us.
In times of temptation and test, strengthen us.
From trials too sharp to endure, spare us.
From the grip of all that is evil. free us.
For you reign in the glory of the power that is love
now and forever, Amen.

SONG OF SENDING FORTH    Sweet Hour of Prayer (United Methodist Hymnal #496)
1. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father’s throne make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief, my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter’s snare by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

2. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! the joys I feel, the bliss I share
of those whose anxious spirits burn with strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place where God my Savior shows his face,
and gladly take my station there, and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

3. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! thy wings shall my petition bear
to him whose truth and faithfulness engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face, believe his word, and trust his grace,
I’ll cast on him my every care, and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!!
