Good Samaritan’s Abiders ministry is made up of a group of volunteers who have been trained by professional staff to serve dying residents when there are not family members or friends available to be present near the time of death.  This interactive ministry supplements but does not in any way replace the facility’s medical or nursing care.  The Abiders Ministry does not intend to replace community-provided spiritual care or family presence.

Abiders are both professional and non-professional volunteers who remain or “abide” with dying residents on a rotating basis in increments of approximately 2 hours.

In order to participate, Abider Ministry volunteers receive orientation and on-going training and support.  Our first workshop was this past August when we trained 14 Abiders from local churches.  The ministry is growing and it would be helpful to have more people to meet the needs that are being requested.
