Order of Worship
May 10, 2020

We come and enter sacred moments in the presence of God our Good Shepherd.
He calls us by name, restores our souls, and leads us in the way of righteousness.
His goodness and love never stops pursuing us.
This is the God we have come to worship!
Be still, O my soul. Let my whole being worship the Lord.

SONG OF PRAISE   Trading My Sorrows, Your Grace is Enough, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms
I’m trading my sorrows. I’m trading my shame. I’m laying it down, for the joy of the Lord.
I’m trading my sickness. I’m trading my pain. I’m laying it down, for the joy of the Lord.
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes yes Lord. Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes yes Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes yes Lord, Amen. Repeat all

Chorus) Your grace is enough. Your grace is enough. Your grace is enough for me.

So remember Your people. Remember Your children. Remember Your promise, oh God. Repeat Chorus

1. What a fellowship, what a joy divine, leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine, leaning on the everlasting arms

Refrain) Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

2. O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way, leaning on the everlasting arms;
O how bright the path grows from day to day, leaning on the everlasting arms. Refrain

3. What have I to dread, what have I to fear, leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, leaning on the everlasting arms. Refrain

SPECIAL MUSIC   Psalm 23 (Surely Goodness, Surely Mercy)
Verse 1 The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want. In green pastures He makes me lie down,
He restores my soul and leads me on for His name for His great name

Chorus Surely goodness surely mercy Right beside me all my days
And I will dwell in Your house forever And bless Your holy name

Verse 2 You prepare a table right before me in the presence of my enemies,
though the arrow flies and the terror of night is at my door I’ll trust You Lord

Bridge And even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil
(And) even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death You are on my side.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul.
He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil;
for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.

GOSPEL READING – Mark 8:34-38
He called the crowd with his disciples, and said to them, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake, and for the sake of the gospel, will save it. For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life? Indeed, what can they give in return for their life? Those who are ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of them the Son of Man will also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

SONG OF SENDING FORTH  Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us (UM Hymnal #381)
1. Savior, like a shepherd lead us, much we need Thy tender care;
In thy pleasant pastures feed us, for our use thy folds prepare:
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Thou hast bought us, thine we are; x2

2. We are thine, do thou befriend us, be the guardian of our way;
Keep thy flock, from sin defend us, seek us when we go astray:
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Hear, O hear us when we pray; x2

4. Early let us seek thy favor, early let us do thy will;
blessed Lord and only Savior, with thy love our bosoms fill.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Thou hast loved us, love us still. x2

I hope you can share your gifts with God’s world through your church. As you prepare your offering, say a prayer. You may pray: O God, the giver of every gift, live in and through this gift offered to you that the mission and ministry of our church may bring life and hope into the hurting world.

Stay well and see you next Sunday.

God the good shepherd stays with you and walks with you into every dangerous place. You are cared for.
